Living in Orlando, Florida

Simply the Best

History

Orlando grew from an 1830s Army outpost, Fort Gatlin, into the seat of Orange County and became known as The City Beautiful for its lakes and oak-lined streets. Citrus and cattle drove early growth, and the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971 transformed Central Florida into one of the world's top destinations.

Today, historic neighborhoods such as Thornton Park, College Park and Lake Eola Heights sit alongside newer communities like Baldwin Park and Lake Nona, giving buyers a wide range of styles, prices and lifestyles to choose from.

Population

Orlando is home to about 319,800 residents (2020-2024 American Community Survey), and the larger Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metro area is home to millions. The median age is 35 and the median household income is about $72,300. Roughly 40% of households own and 60% rent, which makes Orlando a strong market for both first-time buyers and investors..

Schools

Orlando is served by Orange County Public Schools, one of the largest districts in Florida, along with magnet, charter and private options. The University of Central Florida, Valencia College and nearby Rollins College add higher education. Confirm school zoning by address before you buy.
